Before he died, Lucien expressed a wish for some of his collection to pass to the BECG. Last week we collected some major items from his store in Suffolk.
Heavy haulage was provided by Mark Wildon. We are very grateful to him for such expert work at a reasonable price. https://www.wildonuk.co.uk/ While Mark's business is sewage, he is a great enthusiast for vintage heavy electrical equipment which is how he met Lucien a few years ago.
Last Thursday Mark and his assistant loaded equipment on to his low loader using a telehandler. Inside the building we used a pallet truck to bring the items to the main door. The heaviest single item was a transformer from the Harris transmitter which was just under a ton.
Big stuff:
Harris Sigma transmitter (ex Crystal Palace, BBC1 analogue Channel E26)
Eidophor TV projector. Originally at Odeon Leicester Square
RCA TR70B quadruplex VTR
Pye/BBC CO6/501 625 to 405 analogue standards converter (ex BVWTM Dulwich, possibly ex ITV Croydon before that)
Also many smaller items which came by car including:
BBC CO6/509 625 to 405 digital standards converter (ex BVWTM Dulwich, ex BBC Crystal Palace before that)
I'll post more images soon. As a taster here's Mark guiding the telehandler to deposit the Eidophor gently on the low loader.
PS: I'm still struggling with picture orientation. I've been correcting this in Irfanview for years without any trouble but something has gone odd today.
