Mystery TV chassis

We have been having a clear out and we took some stuff to the car boot sal this morning. 
I came back with this very early TV chassis, thankfully the net result was less junk than we started with!
It is incomplete without power supply, line output, and sound receiver. Sombody I met said it may have been a kit.
Has anybody here seen anything like it before? I'd guess it is part of a large console receiver. Probaby just post war.
I'm not sure what to do with it, perhaps break it for spares if it has no special value for what it is.

Please don't break it up for spares.

It could be a kit set or made by one of those post war short lived manufactures that got into producing TV receivers.
It's a chassis I've never seen before.

Greetings Peter,
Ive just blown the cobwebs out of it.
The big valve is a side contact EL51, the main RF valves are VR139, there are some tiny little octal VT90/6H6 valses too.
A VT501 with arrow mark, somethng which could be a SP61?, a 6SH7, and another 6H6.

The CRT is a Type 6504 with magnst focusing.

Greetings, I can't imagine its a scratch built homebrew set because it has a custom tube surround. A kit seems more likeley.
The originl soldering looks quite professional, it has been modified and repaired over the years though.
Some parts look broken, wirewound resistors coming apart. There is a very early Radiospares capacator under the chassis.

Although it is an interseting historical itam I do like the things I keep to be in working condition and I see little chance of this working again as it has no power supply and there is no sound receiver either. I am tempted to test the circuits and see what can be coaxed into life however.

Probably the best outcome is for someone else to rescue it and give provide a lving home. I'm going to another car boot sale in the morning, who knows what I'll find tomorrow ...

Hi David.
Be aware that vintage gear shouldn't be subject of full HT after years of slumber. Seeing the corrosion on the chassis I'd surmise that waxed capacitors will be leaky, electrolytic caps too won't like a sudden feed of 200v. Sorry if you are aware of the pitfalls already, be careful of the CRT, it still may have a full vacuum and these tubes have no implosion protection. At the end of the day its your choice for its fate but bear in mind that some here would be interested in the remains.

Although the set "could" have been a kit, many home construction builders used plans that were common place at the time and started from scratch. I've seen a few and the workmanship can be far in excess of what you may think. My own father made a number of sets and by all accounts his work was very good.
