Decca 1000

Hi.
I've had my Decca 1000 now for well over 10 years. After restoration its been very reliable with only two faults. I decided to watch a film on it a few nights ago but after a few minutes EHT decayed.
I felt the worst but the problem was simple,  a NOS CV55 (EBC33) had suddenly developed OC heaters.
Between yesterday and today I've given the set a full checkover  and did some cabinet work including rubbing all the flaking varnish off the cabinet slats.
I have to say the set looks good and is ready for watching a program from the garden into the screen in the shed.

Trevor, It looks like new. You mentioned that you have a NOS optics box with unused MW6-2. Have you fitted that?

Hi Peter.
Not as yet, its still sitting in the loft, I've been painting fences in the good weather then to knackered to go back into the loft and bring the box down. Hopefully this week as I want to do a comparison.

Hi Trevor,
Absolutely excellent. Shows what one can do with the 405 line system if it's done properly. Perfect interlacing is essential and the Decca 1000 has the circuits to perform that requirement.

The NOS optics didn't make much difference to overall brightness but the focus is better.
The cramping at the bottom is due to the fact that I had to take the pictures well above the centre line of the screen.
Picture quality is brilliant

It is spectacular especially when you think of the spot size needed on the MW6-2 to get that resolution. Great interlacing too.
