Annoying rebates on Kindle and iPad etc.

I do a lot of reading on electronic devices as mentioned in the title, one thing gets my goat.  The annoying feel of the company logos on the back, I can't stop fiddling with them.  Kindle is worse, a great big Amazon smiley dent on the back just where I rest my fingers, iPad naked has a shiny Apple logo and in it's case another great big dent.  I am seriously considering filling in the Kindles thing with Isopon and giving it a spray paint job.  The back comes off easily enough, I might get a junker and experiment.

With me it's not so much the feel but often just seeing such company advertising everywhere. I tend to totally avoid wearing clothes with company logos on as much as possible. Quality clothes show themselves off by their cut and don't need cheap logos. The same can be said about equipment.

Me too! I think if it's advertising I should receive a substantial discount for wearing such items but the prices asked for usually suggest a premium rather than a discount. More fool those who buy.

You can no longer buy a Tshirt without either a daft jokey thing on it like "Bed king" or "Adjust my nuts" or a brand of American Rye Whiskey, I turn them inside out.

And don't get me started on sports ware, the amount of unhealthy youfs I see in town wearing mucky trainers and shells suits, baseball cap firmly nailed to the bonce, a trail of pungent smoke in their wake, drive's me nuts. What's even more hilarious is that they all talk as if they were brought up in the projects of a big US city and are black. I don't mind funny handshakes, being an old hipster myself, but if one more spotty oik calls me bro, I shall prod in the spuds with my crutch. They should be listening to Steeleye Span not Rap, dancing round the maypole or morris dancing and drinking rough cider not Wife Beater Lager, innit.

It's a cruel modern world, back to the caves! Andy.

Really? We're obviously not looking in the same places Andy. For example there are loads on Amazon and a Google search for "Plain T shirt UK" returned 70 million hits. Admittedly some of those will people selling bulk T shirts to companies that print on them and others will be people who use the term "plain" rather loosely but plain T shirts are definitely easily available to the likes of you and I. If all else fails Marks & Sparks sell them in assorted colours ....

Back in 1968 for just under a year and again re-employed for Pye Telecom in 1977, I was proud of their company name, history and reputation.

In my early radio and tv days, prior to joining Pye Telecom I HATED Philips radios for their complicated drive cords and custom made parts like switches and volume controls.

Then, around 1988 it was announced Pye Telecom were to be known as Philips Telecom. We all went to our service depot to collect our work attire.
The most obnoxious I found was the heavy knit RAF style navy blue jumper. Why? Despite being of top quality, it had a bold white badge stitched on the top side of the chest pronouncing Philips Telecom!
When I got home, my wife unstitched these. I stuck them to some self adhesive velcro hook. I only applied these upon arriving at the depot whenever a management or other meeting was called. All other times it wac not applied.

I well remember one occasion at the depot workshop, our top engineer spoke to me about a radio I had left with him a week earlier to repair, with an unusual fault.
He made me stand to attention and promptly stripped the badge from me. Like they do in the army for demotion purposes!
It turned out the particular fault was well known and the subject of a company wide "service bulletin".
Great days, never to return!
