Hi,
Thanks for the video Refugee; a bit of sunshine to cheer me up? The only thing on TV I looked forward to watching was "Last Tango In Halifax" and Bron and I enjoyed it. We've watched Scrooge (Original) Gone with the Wind (Epic just like me knocking a nail in) and last night Dirty Dancing. We've watched these many times but our repeats are much better because they don't have five minutes movie then five minutes adverts etc. Bron loves watching Gone With The Wind at Christmas and I don't mind sitting through it because there is little else I feel like doing on Christmas Day. Anyway Christmas Day came and went and what was all the fuss about? This morning I intended to potter around in the garage until I saw it was white over with frost which makes a change from high wind and torrential rain; sunshine and warmth are at the bottom of the list somewhere. I think I'll post some items onto eBay today; at least one of my compressors needs to go to make space for the new bigger compressor and I'll have a go at clearing some junk out of the spare bedroom. I've now had chance to read through the soda blaster instructions and although it's all straightforward enough it's highlighted the fact that not only is the soda/hard medium consumable but also parts of the blaster. The big heavy rubber hose wears from the inside out due to the medium and it is very important to keep checking this hose for blisters whilst it is pressured; as the hose wall thins a blister will appear and as soon as it does a new hose should immediately be fitted otherwise the hose could rupture causing serious injury spraying blasting medium everywhere at high pressure. The Ceramic nozzles also wear as does the ball valve in fact the components wear which are in direct contact with the blasting medium so this needs taking into account; I don't know how long these parts last before needing replacement but I would think a fair bit of blasting could be done before replacing. The valve at the nozzle needs fully opening during blasting otherwise this valve is subject to rapid wear. It all sounds a bit grim but in reality it can't be too bad otherwise the sale of these blasters would quickly dry up as word spread? I thought my 2hp compressor would be powerful enough and yes it would be with the smallest nozzle fitted but blasting would be slow with many periods of waiting until the compressor caught up. I don't mind paying for the new blaster and compressor because I'm upgrading my workshop facilities now having funds to do so. Bron and I have only ever had one week's holiday away from home in 38 years this holiday on our first wedding anniversary in a cottage in the Yorkshire Dales. We don't drink or smoke and don't have meals out in fact we lead very simple but happy lives with our respective hobbies wanting for nothing and being more than happy to remain home in our comfortable bungalow. We go out for days as we like but after many years of grafting and being broke we can now indulge in our hobbies so I'm buying lots of new kit. It's been a long time coming but not going into debt has finally paid off and we are totally free to enjoy ourselves; we don't want to go on holidays because we are content enjoying each others company and helping each other with hobbies. Bron never ever complains if I make noise or dirt because she knows something good usually comes of it; money can't buy the bond between us and I'll moan about everything but I'll never moan about Bron. We have finally broken clear and 2014 looks good for us? New Years resolution? To carry on much as we are because life is good. Kind regards, Col.

Here is a bit of reading on nozzles and what happens when they get a bit old.
You should be able to get hoses with a thicker inner layer so that they last longer. You are effectively spraying liquid sand paper and it will blast everything it comes into contact with. http://www.kramerindustriesonline.com/fi...-guide.htm http://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=2&ved=0CDUQFjAB&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.material.chula.ac.th%2FJournal%2Fv20-3%2F15-18%2520WICHIANRAT.pdf&ei=VQy8UrrGCZKwhAfL84CoAw&usg=AFQjCNEXHgu_mrm6-jJyCBNgat7vNT__ng&bvm=bv.58187178,d.d2k

Didn't watch much telly last night, Eastenders, a couple of old QI, Have I Got News For You etc and some of the last Michael Jackson rehearsal.

I'm entirely happy to say that the only two Programmes in the Top 10 that I watched were The Queen and The News.

Almost 5 years without telly and we are not missing it at all.
The adverts got very bad and Freeview boxes got dodgy with a delay built into the mute button so that programs could not be watched once someone has gone to bed due to the sound boosted adverts. The mute button often used to make it jump to another channel when it was pressed and when that happened it was always a channel with yet more adverts. I have a prized rusty satellite dish to show off to the licensing guys when they turn up. Reliability is one of the issues that have led me to get rid of the TV. Functionality of equipment and excess adverts have contributed to this. I will just wait until they produce reliable sets with the speech and sound effects on user operated faders so that documentaries can be watched without intrusive elevator music playing.

I've been nearly three years without and feel just the same.
I can watch things on my computers but rarely do, maybe an hour or so a week, and don't routinely bother to even look at the listings to see what's on. - Joe

Most video I watch is from U-tube these days.
At least I can stop it if I don't like it.

Well if you have a Virgin or Sky box, ours is Virgin, then its easy to record everything with adverts (ours can record 2 (latest box is 3) and watch one). Then simply watch all the programs later, with ads, and skip thru them with the fast forward buttons (X 2, 6, 12, 32).
If we do watch something live with ads (occasionally) then I can set the Yamaha Sound Bar to equalise everything to the same level. The technology is there. Gary

Hi,
Thanks for the links Refugee, I'll have a look at them later as I'm a bit bogged down again.I posted my 2hp compressor on eBay and 30 minutes later had a price agreed and the guy is on his way to pay cash and collect as I type. I too seem to spend quite a bit of time watching videos on YouTube because there is so much information available on subjects I like unlike on TV where its virtually zero? I watched Eastenders many years ago and thought what a truly depressing program and haven't watched it since. I don't bother with Emmerdale or Corrie either but Bron follows these so I settle down at the computer in peace posting on my favourite forum? We're on Virgin cable Gary but no recording because the stuff on TV simply isn't worth the bother. With all this so called modern technology why isn't there an easy "Skip" button on the remote control to dump or better still destroy adverts? When I try to watch BBC News it's either sport or some long winded junk they are promoting themselves; drives me mad. The news I do eventually see is all about sport or some latest disaster around the world? Break through's in medicine but ten years from a cure? I couldn't care less what type of balls guys play with. You couldn't pay me to watch a football match. The picture shows a lot of DVD's all containing videos or movies with up to six full movies on each so there must be over a 1,000 to choose from; a much better selection than held collectively by all the TV channels considering the number of repeats shown? Every one of these was a free download the only cost being around £16 per 100 blank DVD's. This to me is much better value than the rip off TV licence fee. Got to go; compressor to sell and dispose of. Kind regards, Col.
