Driving home today in my little electric Skoda Citigo. Less than half a mile from home I was stopped at traffic lights when I was rear ended by a ********* in a Jaguar. The car has a bent bumper and tailgate but is still fully usable and road legal. Informed my insurers online and opted to use a 3rd party claims management company (Auxillis)who handle the whole thing. I don't make a claim nor pay a penny and they recover any losses from the other party. Claims company phoned me within minutes. They say they will use a body shop that's only about a mile from me. PITA but I hope it's all handled as quickly and easily as possible. I await a call from the body shop.

Sell it as soon as you get it back. Its resale value will be severely reduced and the longer you keep it the lower it will get.
Often better to get the insurance co to write it off and pay you out.  Or pay you the repair costs and you can dump it on a sales site as slightly damaged without it being listed as a write off.
Buyers are now getting keen on checking for previous damage on checking sites. Cars with a damage category listed are worth half what an undamaged one is worth.

It's a shame that a repair (better for the planet) is considered a bad thing. It also puts up insurance costs a lot having to scrap perfectly good vehicles.

I did not say scrap it.  Just because a vehicle is categized as a write off by the insurance Co. does not mean that it will be recycled.

Still I prefer the fix to all new.
