Powering a Technics SLBD20D 110v Turntable from 230v

The transformer I have is a 'proper' iron & copper device, Peter. It's designed to power 110/120vac equipment from 230/240vac, and, being rated at 45W, will be more than adequate to operate the SLB20D, which only requires 2.5W @ 110v. I'm not sure, but can easily check, whether it's double wound, or an autotransformer, but it is totally insulated, the U.S. socket being built into the plastic case, which incorporates a 13A plug, so no extra trailing wires are involved, just a rather heavy 'wall-wart' type device to plug into a mains socket

Hi Sparky, thats fine. The worst one I,ve come across was a 110v 100+100 watt stereo amp fed by a Maplin switching converter. The only damage was the reservoir capacitors (all 4) which had all leaked badly all over the pre amp. Running the board under a hot tap cleaned it OK though.

The item in question is a proper iron & copper autotransformer, designed for running 110/120vAC equipment from 230/240vAC Mains. It's built into a plastic 'wall wart' type box with a UK 13A plug on the rear and a U.S. 2-pin mains socket on the front. This item, sold by CPC and others, is rated 45W (should really be 45VA)@120v so is more than adequate for the Technics T/T, wich requires 2.5W @120v. For some reason, Pete, your post (and my reply) seems to have been dupicated!!

Following on from the above I've run the Technics 120v T/T from the Autotransformer mentioned above with no problems, and would think that any 120 Record player, Deck, etc. fitted with a DC electronically governed motor should also run at the correct speed when powered via a 240/110v Transformer, though maybe not from a switchmode supply.
