Quite a neat layout, some sets with a metal chassis and tag strips end up looking like a rats nest.

There is a suggestion that the Russian paper capacitors of the type used in this set were originally sealed hermetically and therefor don't suffer the almost universal problems that our "western" caps suffer from.

Without a direct comparison it's hard to say but the Pye B16T/D16T of the same era also had superb performance. Another solidly engineered set, though without the benefit of hermetically sealed capacitors. At the time that wouldn't have been important as they would have lasted for the normal service life of the set.

[LENINGRAD T2]

Leningrad T2 is the most desirable TV by collectors from Central and Eastern Europe and ......... the most expensive. It was produced in DDR and the Soviet Union for Soviet VIPs. The Germans handed over TV sets as part of war reparations. The design of the TV resembles a tank. Paper capacitors are hermetic and in most cases do not require replacement. They were widely used in many other Soviet TVs from this period. A picture tube is the weakest link. With a bit of luck, you can find a set with a functional picture tube. I have several Leningrad T2 pieces. A completely restored TV must have the Soviet inscription LENINGRAD. This sign gives real beauty to this TV.
