Of course when it sees a mixed image it tries to colour it which we don't always want it to.

That's pretty amazing. I tried it on a photo of my great grandparents which was probably taken in Poland. I only have a scan, not the actual photo. Here's before and after. It mistook the gap between her waist and his arm as something else.

Interesting website, but it seems to concentrate on skin tones. It didn't recognise the American flag.

This was with a different site as the one Peter linked to didn't work for me. I cant seem to remove the screenshot picture I posted as it was in error.

Yes, people, trees and bushes, blue skies and water work pretty well.

I tried a B&W image that I'm proposing to use in a BECG publication and it put almost no colour in at all. There were no people, greenery or sky.

The issue of coloured screen images can of course be sorted by selectively converting to grey scale.
