When you look at the dimensional drawing, and take into consideration the length of the deflection coils, a much shallower angle seems more likely.

That's not an MW6-2 as they have lugs around the edge of the screen at 120 degrees. You'll clearly see them on page 1 of this thread.

Yes, I had difficulty pushing it into the optics box and the neck was too big to take the scan and focus coils.

In my country, few people have heard of projection televisions. When a few years ago I became the happy owner of such a model / Philips TX701 / I asked a friend radiology technician to measure the level of X-rays near the CRT. I was very afraid of this. We got the value of zero. Perhaps the X-ray scare was intended to limit the maintenance of projection TVs by unqualified personnel.
The MV6-5 radar tube can be equivalent to the MW6-2. The latter is probably only 1 cm longer. Its electrical parameters are identical. I own it but never used it. I don't know what the color of the phosphor is.
The TV Pilot from the US with a 3KP4 has probably the smallest screen in the world. Potential TV set with MW6-2 will be better in this respect.
Is the service life of MW6-2 known?

Hi.
The service life depends on how hard its driven. In sets like the Decca 1000 it is shorter as the tube is run flat out to get sufficient brightness on screen. Smaller projection sets require less brightness so the CRT has a slightly easier life. My old Decca 1000 has a new CRT and run less than 20 hours so is as good as it gets.
I'd suspect with low EHT and using it as a direct view tube it would last a very long time. In fact even running the heaters at 50% reduced supply it is just as bright and still with perfect focus when running at reduced EHT.

Hi.
I'm surprised that no X rays were detected. The CRT needs to be out of the Schmitt unit and the screen needs to be bright as there are no X rays at zero beam current.
I actually think the X Ray level would be low anyway, as on these projection sets the EHT unit will sag with a bright picture, it's supposed to run at 25kv but the EHT will drop to 20kv or even less.
