Nice indeed. Good CRT too. Would EMI eally have sold a set with a green phosphor as suggested in one of the comments?

The HMV version is the 907 which I've seen in real life. I've never seen a 704.

I don't think so, Jeffrey.

The 704 was a first generation set, the 907 (and Marconi 709, from memory) was a second generation-with-radio.

I owned a 907 many years ago (pic) and encountered a beautiful example of a 704 at the home of a collector who would wish to remain anonymous.

Hi Steve, It's interesting that you refer to the 704 as a first generation set. I know that David B. thinks that the mysterious prototype without any branding could be the prototype of the 704 & 903 and it certainly had very similar veneering to the earliest 901s and what looks like the same superhet receiver as the 704/903.





I think you are right and I should add them to my First Gen. sets.

Do you know what date the 704/903 were first put on sale?
