Not radio, but radio control!
My son has set about refurbishing a 36" 'Aerokits' crash tender boat that I built for him 30 years ago when he was a kid. (Apparently, they've become something of a classc and command high prices these days, even in poor condition). I've checked out the transmitter, receiver and homebrew proportional speed controller that I made from Hobby Electronics mag. (The IC used - like the magazine, has long since ceased to exist). I'm pleased to find that everthing works well.
In researching RC models to bring me up to date on things such as batteries, I came across a very interesting and useful website with several home-brew projects such as speed controllers and lots of other things, including tips on making PCBs. I thought it might interest one or two forum members, so here's the link:
