Ecko U319

I am embarking on a radio restoration of the above set but wondered what the differenced were between the U319 and the U319A?

It's easy to find other people's accounts of doing work on a U319.

Jeff, thank you - I do have the 'trader' printout 1416 which covers the U319, however, as you say there does not seem to be any info on the U319A - this later model could be a colour edition - I understand that at some point Ecko produced a bright red edition in order to keep up with fashion trends! so it could as simple as a colour change, It is likely I will be getting an example of both models - to make one good radio from the two - so if I can see any differences between them I will post these on here.

It's quite a decent set (it's Ekco by the way, not Ecko - common mistake!).

The relatively large cabinet does mean the dropper resistor runs cool, and the sound quality is helped by the large cabinet.

I do find on VHF that the tuning drifts over the first 10 minutes though.

The "A" version seems to use a ribbon/twin feed for the connection to rear panel built in aerial instead of a single wire.
Likely some other minor changes.
I have an earlier wooden Ekco set in the attic using a DM70 magic eye with filament powered from O/P valve cathode.

Likely one of the first Ekco models with FM. Likely very similar to the U319/U319A.
