A friend had a box of NOS blue bead tants. They'd explode immediately. I surmised the white text and + was on the wrong side. Testing suggested this was the case!
However parts failing later is likely due to inadequate quality or wrong rating, and the failure is spectacular. Risk of loss of eye or fire from the ejecting hot pellet.
I've not seen problems with the canned kind.
I'd mostly have only used them where leakage was an issue. There have been issues with Aluminium Electrolytics due to quality / fake chemicals used.
