Antex X25 Soldering Iron Practical Wireless 1973

Hi just seen this soldering iron advertised as per title that it is safe to solder on live circuits and it has been tested to 1500V AC . Elf and safety would have real issue today

You'd not want to hold the metal bits anyway, too hot.
I had an X25

I'm sure the enginners assumed it would be by accident live and the Crayon dept got the wrong end of it.

The X25 was my very first soldering iron - I've still got it and it still works 
I remember that it was advertised as having very low leakage but I still wouldn't want to use it on something live !

The only time I used my Antex on something live, I let it heat up then unplugged it and did the soldering before it had cooled. The case is well insulated but I don't know about the internals. They don't blow modern trips though.

Would not like to solder live even that you had to wear a rubber glove to hold the solder and if you dropped the solder Bang . Hi Andy you are correct about it having low leakage and the retail price in 1973 was £1.75
