We stayed in a Travelodge recently. Out of curiosity I opened the consumer unit in our room. And a light came on! A strip of LEDs and a small battery allowed you to see what you were doing even if the premises were in darkness.
I've not heard of CPN Cudis before and have no idea if they are any good.
