I am a Sony TA-88, a bit long in the tooth!. I wasn't very well with a dodgy channel, my master found a rusty legged tranny and gave me a new one and now I'm feeling quite perky and would like to marry a pair of speakers. I have had three suitors, No.1 was a pair of JVC sp-fssd7,s, they gave me a 'booming' headache, my master said they reckoned they were 4ohm but he measured them at 1ohm and no wonder they gave me a headache!. No2 were Teac LS-100U, nice looking, said they were 4ohm and true to their word measured 4.4ohm, however when first connected gave me a 'boom' only to be stopped by plugging in a 'jack' into my headphone socket and pulling it out quickly!, I then sang sweetly, but not very conveinient as my socket is getting sore!. Suitor No.3 were Kef C10's 8ohm nominal, they performed fine but I've got a 'thing' for the Teac's, phyically we're great together. My master say's if he puts a, say, 8ohm suitably rated resistor in series with one of my legs (and the other leg) I will not have to have 'jack' in and out of my socket every time I want to make it with Teac!. What do you think?, my master is not very bright and I don't want him to give me a bigger headache!.
