Philips L2G32T Low Current/Distortion

I have a Philips L2G32T that is a little bit distorted and is drawing a very low current, 6ma.  According to the manufacturers sheet and the radio servicing sheet they both state the quiescent current drawn by the radio should be about 15ma.  Output bias resistors have been checked, the base bias resistors were replaced as they were well out of tolerance and after 1 or 2 electrolytics were replaced it’s no different.  DC voltages on all of the transistors in the radio are very good, another speaker has been tried in case I had a bad speaker.  I eventually removed the output transistors as I thought I might have had one that was not good, they were tested on a Chinese tester and they were found to be low gain but not overly low.  According to my Towers book minimum hfe for the OC81 is 50, my transistors have a hfe of 40 and 37 respectively, would this give me my symptoms??

I don’t have an oscilloscope.

"Chinese" transistor testers aren't entirely reliable with germanium devices (they don't understand leakage current, high in Ge, low in Si) but your OC81s sound OK.

Have you replaced C22, C31 and C23? In each case the value isn't critical. So 80uF can be replaced by 100uF, 160uF by 220uF and 640uF by 1000uF.

Is the sound OK at the earphone socket?

You may end up having to trim the values of R21 and R22 to increase the quiescent current.

If earphone socket is poor
C20 4uF can be 3.3uF or 4.7uF. If leaky you might get lower current on T4

C22 80uF can be 100uF or 2 x 47 uF in parallel. It's feedback, so if it's dried out it might be louder and distorted.
Being dried out is quite as likely as leaky.

I'd sooner suspect an AF117 than OC[anything]
