I refurbish radios and often have to find fabric to repair them. Does anyone know the colours they used. Stuck on a blue at the moment

What's the model of the radio, or are you refurbishing the newer Revivals? If those (and plenty of them need it), I'm surprised if you want to source the original fabric, it's horrible stuff lately - I have Roberts models from the 1930s-80s whose covering is still very presentable, but most of those I see offered second-hand from the last five years or so look as though they've been dragged half a mile down the road on the end of a piece of string, The brand's reputation has to be suffering.
They've used several different blues over the years, especially with the coming of the Revivals where at one point there were about a dozen standard colours and various special finishes, but Oxford blue was popular from the '30s to the '60s and has appeared on some Revivals etc. since: it hasn't been a constant shade, some versions especially after aging could be taken for black. One I am working on right now is the R757. 1996 I believe. I work on a wide range from the earlier valve types through to DAB. I do this for my own enjoyment then selling them on ebay at pretty low prices. I am an ex REME Tels tech from the 60's so I returned to my first career choice. I have been buying faux leather material and up to this one I have matched to the existing colours (or close) THE 757 AND OTHERS REGULARILY HAVE PROBLEMS WITH THE ALUMINIUM HANDLE COVER. THIS THE CXASE WITH THIS ONE. Roberts ALWAYS CUT THE MATERIAL TOO NARROWLY HENCE ITS FAILURE TO STAY ON. GLUING REMAINS A PROBLEM WITH THE FAUX LEATHER TO ALUMINIUM BUT I PERSERVERE.
Does this help in suggesting he blue colours of that time? Thought I would give a little background! Chris

Ah, thanks for that clarification, but I'm still a bit confused - is it that you know the radio was blue but what remains of the covering is so damaged that you can't tell what shade it was? Here's a blue RP26B from roughly the same period, which may give a useful indication. I don't think any darker blue was in use at the time.

It's only just occurred to me that a more likely explanation would be that the R757 wasn't blue, but that you're looking to re-cover it in a shade close to one Roberts would have used if it had been. Here's a real blue R757 which does look to be darker than my RP26B and close to the old Oxford shades:

Thanks, the 757 is the same colour as mine. From your input I should look for oxford blue to recover as I understand it.
