Now the Virgin internet modem, always in the upstairs Den near the PC, has been changed to another later type and the above items have to be adjacent to it. The 'line' cord for the master plugs in the back of the new modem.
The slave phone just plugs into a mains socket in the hall. Apart from the other inconveniences the call ring is not as loud and is often not heard in the lounge.
So the question is can the 'line cord for the master be extended down to the hall so I can locate the used items back where they were?
If no one knows then I can always start a conversation with Virgin Media but I expect that to be long and difficult.
thanks Gary
I had this problem when I changed to a Virgin Media Superhub a couple of years ago. The supplied RJ11 to BT adaptor cable did not provide enough ring current to operate more than 1 telephone.
The simple solution that I found was to obtain an RJ11 to RJ11 cable and cut the plug off one end. The cable's red and green (centre) wires were connected to the A and B terminals in my Virgin master socket, having disconnected and taped off the existing (now unused) feed wires. With the RJ11 plug connected to the Superhub’s telephone port I can operate up to 3 telephones around the house using the existing extension sockets, including pulse dialling.
