Panasonic Plasma TV set

Hi All
I don't know whether I have put this post in the correct place (?) but I do have a question ask. I have a great 37" Panasonic plasma tv (1080p resolution) in very good work condition that I'm not using anymore BUT cannot find a new home for it. I have tried giving to charity shops such as the British Heart Foundation but they wont take it because it does not have inbuilt access to apps such as Freeview etc., so it cannot be seen in operation when at the relevant store. It was indicated that they 'cannot' sell items that have not seen working. 
It does seem no-one wants a tv such as plasma unit even though they fully work. I feel really loathe to dump it. Does anyone have any thoughts as to where I could arrange to give it away at all?

Plasma TVs are almost vintage now!

I'm surprised it can't receive Freeview via an aerial in the usual way. I've had problems with BHF furniture/electrical shops. They are good at testing stuff they sell, for function and safety, but can be a bit of a nuisance when they turn away entirely saleable stuff that's not in perfect condition.

Offer it on Freecycle or your local Nextdoor group.

What I am referring to is that given that its from 2007 (is that now seen as vintage?) that it does not have built in Freeview of Freesat etc., so will have to be fed from an external Freeview/Freesat box. I've operated it with a Humax Freesat box for the last 4 years with no issues at all. But, as they would have to connect it to an external box/unit then they are not interested at all.
I have thought about Freecycle etc., I was hoping that I could give it away for charity.

Digital terrestrial TV started (I think) in 1998 so by 2006 all higher end sets should have included it. I know a few sets, such as late Sony CRTs, had a digital tuner that couldn't cope when Freeview was extended to inlcude channel numbers above 99.

If BHF won't take it there are very few charities that I would trust with electricals. Best to use Freecycle.

Strange not having any aerial input, my first repair was to one of panasonics first plasma sets from 2004, built like a tank. It is only 720p and it has freeview built in, but no HDMI. Maybe yours is more of a monitor display ?

It may only have analogue capability from its aerial input. I wonder if it has any digital (HDMI or DVI) ports at all.

The other issue I've heard of is the power consumption, some charities are now refusing power hungry devices. The other is some plasmas are too heavy for H&S rules, it's very much a bag of nails.
Parts now are hard too.

I'm actually surprised a 2007 set had no inbuilt free view receiver unless it was old stock when purchased.

Yes, it does have an aerial input but Ive not used this since 2012 when the changes were made from analogue to digital signal in the Southend area.
We've had a recent extension built and had out lounged refurbished (its still not quite finished). I wanted to place the TV on the wall and tried to find a suitable VESA mount for the set and found that the mount size was tiny (200 x 200). Considering that was our thoughts to go for a larger replacement set in the future we decided not to bother and place a larger TV with suitable mount this time around. We have purchased an LG 48" OLED HD tv. The picture quality is very good BUT with regards to "blackness' the plasma set will always win hands down.
Trevor, you are correct with regards to weight and this was the big issue, the set is very heavy and trying to find a suitable wall mount for the plasma set and then on to the LED replacement was not as easy as it seems. Its amazing the plasma set is such a small VESA mount?

I do feel very sad to let the plasma set go as it works extremely well but I have nowhere else in the house to put it. It also appears that no one else wants it either!

The plasma set is a Panasonic VIERA TH-37PX8B with HDMI inputs too (1080p set)

According to this: https://www.whathifi.com/panasonic/th-37px8b/overview the display is 720p, not 1080p. It has DVB-T (Freeview) capability.

OLED sets should be able to give true black, just like plasma, because they are an emissive technology. A lot of sets described as "LED" just have LED backlighting of LCD displays. Like any LCD these cannot give true black.
