Thought I'd see if anyone else gets a "Buzz" out of these Victorian/Edwardian "Induction Coils" ? I've two, & thought I'd give them a good service & polish. The smaller one(Edwardian era), (given me by a VMARS chum a few years back) was in pretty good nick & needed very little doing to it - just a good clean & polish. From a 6V Battery - easily gives roughly 1.5KV from the secondary.
The larger one which I've had since I was a schoolboy(came from a Liverpool hospital I was told), & its Victorian I reckon. Hadn't used it since my RAF electronics instructor days 50 years ago. Used to get a class of 15 or so apprentices all holding hands & see who would let go first ! More oomph in it - about 2KV. Needed some circuitry repairs & a good polish.
Regards, Dave
