Not that I know of but I have thought of fitting an external filter. Snag is it needs to be down to microns so it will choke very quickly indeed. The amount of fibres from a washing machine is far more than you'd imagine. A washable filter is no good as your still putting the issue down the drain. Perhaps some kind of centrifuge system would work better. The residue would then either be incinerated or go to landfill.
Many filters of recent years are only meant to catch coins buttons and other objects that would get caught in the pumps impellers. With the fibres going out the drain. So called self cleaning filters.
Manufactures only need to appear to be green.
