Some of it, I guess, but you would have needed to understand it to rewrite it as well as you did. It was a mammoth exercise and must have taken a very long time.
A few quirks towards the end, I noticed - a bit of field/frame confusion and European VHF channels and 7MHz channel width. That did surprise me as you said you were an avid reader of Practical Television. Perhaps the strain was starting to take its toll?
As for not finishing it, perhaps your teacher's final comment suggested to you that continuing would just be a waste of time?
