My TV project, aged 12 and a half

Ruth and I were sorting out some loft storage today and found some of my old school exercise books etc. When I was in class 2M at William Ellis School, it was 1968/9 and I was 12, going on 13. We all had to do a written project and this was mine. I'll try to get it all scanned over the next few weeks so you can all have a laugh. Here are the front cover and contents page.

There's a total of 65 hand written pages, petering out presumably because I'd run out of time. There's a teacher's comment on the last page: "This may be first class but is beyond me"

Gonna be interested! I'm impressed that you did a section on colour TV in the late 1960's!

I was an avid reader of Practical Television. I don't think I got my copy of Hutson's "Colour TV Theory" until about 1972. Our first colour set was an ex-rental Thorn 2000 bought for £100 in 1974/5.

Like most of us Jeffrey, your handwriting will have improved somewhat over the years only to deteriorate again with advancing years.
But its still remarkable, for a penguin.

I've become very selective now when acquiring more ppppenguins.

3 years ago Ruth and I went to Antarctica (and South Georgia and Falklands) for holiday of a lifetime. Saw more ppppenguins than you could imagine. At one place on SG there were over half a million king penguins. Or so we were told. It was penguins further than you could see.

That's a great collection of ppppenguins, Jeffrey. Don't think I'd want to go to South Georgia or Antarctica, though. Too cold there!!

We had good clothing for the conditions. Most of the time the temperature was around zero celsius. When the sun was out (which it often was in middle of austral summer) we often got hot and had to unzip jackets.

Hi Jeffrey I had one of those penguin on a stick with wheels/feet. I always showed it to guests telling them it was guaranteed to make them laugh. It always did, even the most stern faced of them !.
