I think there might have been a bit of a problem with overlapping the service area of the Lichfield transmitter! And that is in normal service without any 'atmospheric enhancements!'

Hi.
The Black Mountain transmitter (Belfast) on channel 9 gave a good signal here in Ayrshire, many had aerials facing west for the football. STV was on channel 10 so a separate downlead was used, so either a switch was used or just a swap.

The ironical thing is I can receive perfect pictures from NI on freeview, plus the RTE mini Mux that is just 1kw.

I suppose if you wanted to receive both horizontal & vertical pol on the same aerial you could slope it.... When I was on hols in Lanzarote I notice most houses had 2 UHF aerials, 1 horizontal & the other vertical pointing at the same mountain, I'm wondering if they could have got away with 1 sloping aerial & took about a 3 Db's hit?
