The EHT smoothing capacitor recently failed in my Invicta TL31. A replacement was found and I was just about to fit it but after consulting the service manual it was discovered that the EHT is 6KV, the same as the working voltage of the replacement capacitor. The original was rated 7KV.
Might be pushing my luck with this component.
Earlier this year I made up replacement EHT capacitors for the Ekco TSC1113, that's the set with the pop-up CRT. Two Chinese 0.1microfarad 10KV capacitors were used as replacements and each was fitted into 50mm diameter brown plastic tubes cut to 112mm long.
The end caps were made from paxolin, these 47mm discs were made by cutting the material with a 51mm hole saw. It worked out that the discs are a perfect snug fit inside the tubes.
Today, I made up a similar capacitor for the Invicta. The attached pictures show the results of my work.
