This is perhaps a good time to mention a post I made a while back, not long after we changed to this version of the forum software...
The post was primarily about quoting, but from about half way down, I go into how to put the editor into the default "BBCode" way of working - the same way that most forums work by default, and the same way that the "Quick Reply" facility works. Generally, I prefer to work in normal mode - the WYSIWYG editor is quite good, but can be problematic. Please see: http://golbornevintageradio.co.uk/forum/...p?tid=4638 If you do wish to use Word to compose first - and with the spelling and grammar checking, that's perfectly understandable - then pasting into the editor while in "BBCode" mode should give better results. If you paste into the editor when it is in WYSIWYG mode, then it'll pick up on the font and other formatting features, which might cause problems when the post is submitted. If you prefer, you can set "BBCode" as your default editor mode - you can do that in your profile settings page. Hope this helps, Mark

That explains why I have been able to post threads in several places and with text from documents created by whom knows what.
I will open to add the post in quick mode and paste it directly in before using preview to check it. I have had no problem with it.

The real Mechanical people went off with other 3D Packages, some of which disappeared without trace in fairly short order, so I just stuck to 2D. DraftSight works OK if anyone hasn't got a copy of AutoCAD. It would at least allow you to look at the Drawings. The AutoDesk 'Viewer' is desperate and can't be cecommended to anyone. Alan

I've just realised that I left the last picture off the end of my original post. It shows the four units I made, two of which have disks supplied by Tony. I have also just received the springs that I ordered from "Coil Springs Direct" http://www.albionspring.co.uk/ (no connection etc.). They have a huge selection of stock springs and are very willing to supply small quantities to private individuals.
Anyway, here's the final picture: Cheers Brian |
