Here is the schematics mark. It is a power supply for a galanti duovox amp/tone generator combination. There are only 6 or so items in the circuit. The 100 watt amp was dead when I got it. The resistor circled had blown no markings on it. I replaced the b80c bridge rectifier as it showed defective The caps and other resistor show good readings.The physical size of the cap in the 40 volt side with the blown resistor is 75mm x 45mm this is just to give you an idea of the actual dimensions. Any help would be much appreciated thank you richie

First thought: Why doesn't he just join?
Second thought: Presumably there's a fault on the Output - Bottom - side of that Resistor. What does it feed?

Need more info really, if the resistor that's "blown" is wire wound you might be able to get an idea of its value by carefully breaking up the resistor and measuring the resistance of any intact wire lengths, another trick for open circuit unidentifiable wire wounds is to cut/file through the insulation be it enamel or whatever at a point equal to half its length to expose the wire, measure from that point to either end, you might get a reading, if so then double the value read.

Nead a lot more info, they made loads of tone gen/amps from 10 to 85 watts some valve some solid state
at least a model number.

Hi,

Would it be possible to add a short cut for non members to post an enquiry without having to become full members of the forum?

I joined my first forum because I wanted to divide a circle into accurate equal parts for a gear cutting project; this sounds such an easy thing to do but not when such accuracy was required; the thickness of a pencil line is a lot in engineering terms. I joined VRF and because of the warm welcome I received I went on to join in becoming an active forum member even though my knowledge of electronics was zero.

Looking back I was extremely cheeky in introducing pure mechanical engineering onto VRF and I'm surprised I wasn't pounced upon by the moderators but having got away with it I started to add stories in real time as my projects unfolded and each time I received greater encouragement. I seldom post these days on VRF because my projects are definitely "off topic" but I would not hesitate to post where appropriate.

Many people must join forums whilst only wanting to ask for assistance on a single subject but once they have resolved their problem never post again on the forum but simply remain a number?

I'm all in favour of attracting as much attention to GF as possible and if we as members can help anyone I think it must be a good thing and hopefully encourage people to join once they see the benefits of being a member?

I already help out wherever possible in the background and being a member of VRF I occasionally get asked to pass on email details from a non member who is happy to help a member out. For the past few months I've also been doing my best to supply information to a guy who is doing his first veneering project on a big set and it's progressing well; hopefully I'll be able to get him to share his story? I'm sure I'm not the only one doing this kind of thing because the members of both VRF and GF are willing to help out.

Just an idea but I thought I'd mention it.

Hopefully today is a paint spraying day once it warms up?

I don't know how forum software works but having a short cut for non members might lead to problems.

We just need to know what spam filter is causing the problem.
Then we can talk him through flagging the activation email as good. Then there should be no problem.

Joining is so easy that there'd be no point.

I agree that a lot of people join forums for a single purpose, indeed I've done it myself. What I'd like to be able to do is go through the members list and delete those who haven't logged in for months, or even years.
