Correct way to set the stylus pressure on a BDS95?

Does anyone know the proper way to do this? A secondary question is; Should the pickup head be over 30 degrees above the horizontal plane when the arm lifts off the rest in 'auto' mode?
For those who aren't familiar with this BSR deck, the BDS95 (AKA P163) has a calibrated knob at the RH side of the Gimbal (as viewed from the front), an uncalibrated counterweight which is adjusted by means of a screw in the rear end of the P.U. arm, and the usual anti-skate adjustment.

Nothing appears out of place or damaged on this deck, btw.

set the control on the gimbal to zero .
use the counter weight to get the arm to balance IE it should be horizontal .
dial in the required stylus weight on the gimbal control usually 2/2.5 grams
set the anti skating control to the same the are two scales one for elliptical and one for spherical.
in practice it makes bot a lot of difference .
as for the 30 degrees incline on auto sounds about right.

Thanks, Rob. That seems to make sense. As to the arm rising so that the head end was maybe 30 degrees above horizontal, it just seemed a bit odd compared to other decks.
