The turntable (a SONY Automatic 400) in the above table radiogram, made in c. 1973, wasn't operating at all. On inspection, I found that, somehow the microswitch controlling the motor wasn't working because it's lever was in the wrong position. This was simply corrected, but the turntable was riding too low on its spindle. After checking that nothing was out of adjustment, I hit upon the idea of fitting a ball race & thrust washer from a scrap Garrard deck underneath the turntable. Bingo! the SONY T/T now works perfectly, but I'd love to know if there was something missing in the first place! I have a service manual for the HP511A, but it doesn't include the Deck service info. Out of curiosity, does anyone have, or know where I can get the 'Automatic 400' service manual? BTW this is an automatic single play belt drive turntable.
