I'm not a fan of Roberts radios, but I know that like Hacker, they have their following. Roberts had a propensity (still do, judging by the crudely made, overpriced 'Revival') to incorporate quirky cost saving ideas. An example of this, (not limited to Roberts of course), was the ghastly Mullard modules. In the RIC1 & RIC2 they compounded the felony by using not just a Mullard 1175 module, but the now long since obsolete TAD100 IC for the front end and IF stages.
Very occasionally the TAD100 IC appears on e-bay, and there's an advert for them now at the very reasonable price of £2.95 + 95p post.
Roberts fans who own, or might in future be inclined to buy an RIC1 or RIC2 might wish to take advantage of this opportunity while they can:

Hope that's useful to someone out there.
