As reported in a previous post somewhere, I suspected an AGC fault on this receiver, that turned out to be the case, a few checks showed that one of the stud caps was leaky (C 37 .1uf) this is the mixer AGC decoupler, it's in the dreaded RF box but fortunately the cap is accessable, I have done a temp snip and bridge for the moment prior to restuffing.
This leads me to think as to wether or not I should replace the nut fixing multi caps within the RF box, I think I can do these without stripping the box out, this leaves 3 more stud caps, one is next to the first one I mentioned so no problem there, that leaves two (C 34 & C 40) I rekon I could do C 40 but C 34 is quite well buried.
So my question is has anyone managed to do C 34 (the one at the rear left hand side) without stripping the RF box?
Note: In the RF box all the rubber covered wire is in very good condition (there's a first) The micas & ceramics seem ok and all the resistors are more or less within 20%.
