Grundig TK25

Hi from a newbi.Iam looking for someone prefably in the midlands That can repair our TK25 I think its mainly the caps as it works and plays but the volume is low.

I'm a bit out of your neck of the woods, but try giving the heads a good clean first. And the capstan and idler. And the guides. Taking the top off, clean the deck and spray some servisol on the contacts, taking extra care not to get any on the rubber or moving parts.

As far as capacitors go, they are brown sweets in these and they do fail, so it is worth changing a few. Also resistors on the first stage tend to go high.

is there a lot of hum? if not what is the sound quality like(is there any treble) check that the felt pads that keep the tape incontact with the heads is ok, and see if you can borrow a tape head demagnatiser .the el42 could be low emission but more likly the coupling caps are leaky

Firstly I am not qualified to do the repairs i dont want to make things worse.so it would be best if any one localy on here would look at it and iam willing to travel withing reason in the midlands.
Secondaly there wasnt any hum but crackly and the volume faded away after it was warm.Also i noticed a slight waver in the voice.
I havent tryed recording yet but i do know the bottom of the mic case is broken where its peg is the goes into the base.
