i wounder if anyone has tried moding one one these amps to use somthing other than an ecc807 in the phase spliter stage one i looked at earlier has one that gone soft because the owner cleaned out the dust and broken the valve. ecc807's are like hens teeth and i cant find a sustitute, there is one on ebay for £15+ p+p

ECC83 makes a perfectly good phase splitter in the Mullard 5-10 but you'd have work to do to modify the amplifier. There does not appear to be any direct equivalent of the ECC 807, unfortunately.

an ecc83 would need the wireing to the valve base changing also components changing i am thinking it may be easyer to swap on of the preamp valves also ecc807 and modifie the the preamp to use ecc83 but i would still like to hear from anyone who has tried this or any other solutions

ps the owner has just ordered an ecc807 nos the amp will still need other work one of the caps in the voltage doubling power suppy has a bulge and the anode load resistor in the phase splitter in the working channel is very high in value
