:helpme::helpme:suprohone,hi guys ive just been gifted this suitcase gram, its mono,

made in checkislavakia, havent stripped it down yet, but it has a lid which can be opened at the hinges to allow speaker to be moved around, theres also a little pocket in the lid at side of speaker to store plug lead and sound line when closed , the case is almost oval with a carrying handle[ strap], the arm has two stylus, with a small switch to use either, [prob for different type records]'red and green dot.

trouble is theres a loud scratching sound when playing a record, there was also a lot of voice distortion, but i carefully cleaned the stylus with a toothbrush soaked in switch gear oil, as there was a lot of dirt around it,

at this stage not sure what valves are in place , but will open soon, would love to hear if anyone has knowledge of this little grammy, ill send a pic through picaso ,if someone will post it up for me , best regards maitiu

I'll give you a tip here. Eastern European stuff like this is often built to Phillips designs, That looks very much like it. But they do tend to be transformer led. Usually 230v, so our mains will do.

Change a cap or two and hope the cartridge is OK.

i agree with steve it looks very plillips the electronics are very basic 1 maybe 2 valves the faults you discribe will be a coupling cap ,and maybe a high value resistor be cause there is output hopfully the cartridge is ok

hi guys, im back again ,this time with a hmv 104'windy upper gramophone that arrived in rag order, i dont see any section here on forum for these oldies, or am i looking in the wrong places, someone had broken open the boards inside at the turntable in order to get in at the motor and forgot to remove the handle so the veneer was missing ,also there was no sound box on the arm , i was kindly gifted one by pat herbert of the hurdy gurdy museum in howth, i also had to replace the speaker cloth and repair the fretwork, and the four corners of the lid were also stripped , looking not too bad now and stephane kappelli is jazzing away as i speak, just have to get a piece of dark veneer now for around the turntable and im finished , maitiu,

Perhaps start a new thread for the HMV 104 as this tome we have a western model number for it that can be the first word in the title.
Also some time ago all the photos went missing so the original photo of the made in checkislavakia gram is missing so if you still have it it would be nice to see it for those of us who joined after the photos went missing.
