Well, annother car boot find. £6 for a valve am/fm stereo tuner amp bearing the Pioneer badge, can't be bad!
I have powered it up on the variac and let the caps reform and now it's playing Kiss FM in the lounge through a fairly decent pair of bookshelf speakers.
It sounds well, everything I imagined and more....
However, a couple of faults. The power amp works on both chanels but the FM signal is only on one side but this is switchable as the amp has stereo, left or right modes.
The AM signal worked fine at first but now the signal has vanished. I'm thinking probably the function switch powers up the circuitry and needs cleaning.
Also, a neon screwdriver has shown volts on aux input as well as FM aerial connections (leaky caps?)
This is a decent well made bit of valve kit with 19 Hitachi valves which all bear the Hitachi name and look original.
Any help with the faults please, can't find service sheet, only part of service diagram.
Regards
Rob
