Hi.
I did the full translation in less than 10 minutes using Google Lens and saved the screen shots. Job done. Sometimes modern technology saves an awful lot of time.

It looks a nice set to be working on Trevor. Well built. It will be good to see it fully working.

Hi.
I was able to add two tag strips then realised this HT supply is for the RF, IF, Audio & Video output. The other supply is for the Line and Frame sections. The line and frame sections are switched off when on "Radio" so the rectifier originally is two selenium rectifiers wired as a doubler. so all I fitted was two silicon Diodes (1N5408) and the 150uf cap, I only had a 180uf so that will do in the meantime. The switch was O/C but I used the other set of poles as it was a double pole switch. The mains socket is very ingenious as it has a little flap that houses the two 20mm mains fuses.... clever. I slowly brought up the HT's to 150v, both supplies behaving perfectly and went through all the coupling caps and non were leaking at all, so much for our Wax cap crap. Frome osc started at that HT even with half the heater volts, nothing from the line osc as yet though. I've called it a day for now and wont be working on it till Monday. Oh and the Audio stage is working too. A picture of the mains connector, the added rectifiers and cap (cap is temporary as I hope to get a more suitable replacement) and the HT at 50v

I have a working TV Rekord and its successor, the Rekord series B. I think they are good constructions. The 35LK2B picture tube with electrostatic focusing is the weakest element. It was fitted to many models from that period and was frequently failing. It was often replaced by 14 inch permanent magnet picture tubes. A mains socket with fuses is an interesting Russian patent. It was installed in almost every receiver until the beginning of the 60's. I have never met an old Russian TV with a damaged EHT transformer.

Hi.
I got a sneaky half hour this morning. I can confirm the line stage is operating and there is a good pulse at the EHT rectifier anode cap. No EHT but likely to be the valve or the 4 ohm series resistor on the heaters. Ran out of time so Monday before I can resume work. Looking good so far.

Hi.
I couldn't resist another increase in volts. At 170v AC I got this.

The Interesting thing about the rectifiers for the time bases is the 6 diodes in series. They have a forward breakdown voltage of 0.165v and a reverse voltage of 2.9v they actually work although one was short circuit. I've now replaced them with 6x 1N4007 instead. The HT for the time bases is around 2v lower now.
180 volts AC to the set gives full width so next is to rig up something for the RF stages to at least give me video. I believe Frank's programmable standards converter would accommodate the necessary requirements of the set.

There is a discrepancy in the manual. The HT fuses are after the rectifiers and before the smoothing capacitors, a more logical way of doing this and not after smoothing.

Hi.
Well after bringing up the AC up to the rated 220v and feeding in video we have a result. The tuner has all sorts of coils fitted and only Channel 8 has a pair that match. No components have been replaced other than the missing rectifier and capacitor, although I'll replace the mains filter cap with a modem equivalent. Will need to make or obtain a suitable modulator for the Soviet standard. |
