Don't talk to me about Chinese copies. My daughter was at a textile trade fair in London a few years ago and her designs were stolen. This put paid to a business venture and the gauling thing is her stuff is everywhere. The Chinese have no principals, love or hate Trump I agree with his tarrifs on trade with China.

Should we trade with a country that does this?

Maybe online selling sites should be policed strongly like what is being suggested with Facebook?

Personally I find it a bit of a minefield as, on the one hand, things are obviously copied but dirt cheap from the east, or pay though the nose with ridiculous US postal charges. I find Europe a happy medium with most of these things.

Trevor, ripping off textile designs is unpleasant and unfair. Ripping off electronics kit often means safety problems too. Look at the number of unsafe phone chargers around. It can sometimes be difficult to assure yourself that you're getting the genuine and safe article, almost regardless of price.

I agree Jeffrey but the way the Chinese operate in some quarters is unfair to say the least.
Leaving out our own story I agree that safety has to be paramount and with a copy who is to say that item IS safe? The other issue is how do the relevant authorities get alerted that a particular item like this piece of test equipment is the genuine article when shipped and unloaded. It could have been tested, to whose standards though, it begs the question that we buy an item at a quarter of it's value, why? Because we only see the price not that its fake or unsafe. Again the same with Emma's designs and textiles. Oh well she's doing just great as an Art teacher and pupil guidance.
