Regarding the amp with fuses in the cathode, I'd suspect the addition of a couple of Ohms in the circuit would be no worse than the tolerance of the cathode resistors, or if in a fixed bias set up a very slight adjustment of the bias level would compensate.
The World Design amp I did recently I added a fuse to each output stage on the common feeds to the output transformers.
Regarding the fuses in solid state amps I have seen audio modulating the supply lines after the fuse, the addition of a suitable decoupler offered a cure.

These days (this was a modern amp) it seems 2% resistors come pretty much as standard. And in practice if I pull them off the bandolier I find they're often better matched even than that. So adding another 20% (a 2ohm fuse to the 10ohm bias sensor resistor) does make a significant difference. Of course, it could be fixed by adjusting the bias. But this is the only sensor of the bias that the poor customer has, and he isn't aware that whoever fiddled with the amp has changed it's calibration, so when he sets the reading to 450mV he still thinks he's doing the biasing properly (I suppose he might wonder why all the adjustment pots are now so very close to one end of their range though ).

I'm with you now VB, yes a 20% increase on the 10 ohm will make a big difference to the cathode volts.
Sounds like the mess I had to sort out on World Design KT88 amp, cant say I was inspired by these amps having heard one that was untouched. I believe they were loosely based on the 5-20 but on my rebuild I more or less stuck to the 5-20 circuit and it works very nicely indeed.

I would expect that bees' knees would be better than beeswax though royal jelly would probably be the ultimate for a honey smooth response.

At those prices I expect they're manuka fuses!

Just make sure you get your directional OFC gold loaded semiconductor sheathed speaker cable the right way round too, or the beeswax won't work.
