yet another quad2 power amp

picked this up last weekend a bargin for £150  from a house clearance  sadly the rest (another quad 2/a22 preamp and a record deck was sold to one of those collectors from the local paper .
it works very well .i may change the coupling caps for something better .
but first i will compare the sound with one of my other quad 2s to see if i can tell the difference.

the other buyer paid her £200 for the rest !
I would love to know what the record deck was and the big wooden speakers .
I bet he was rubbing his hands with glee.

It's quite an early one (4-digit serial number, transfer lettering on the transformers, black speaker sockets, spot welds visible on the transformer casings). It's been to Quad for a service at some point though. They will have changed the main smoothing capacitor and they may also be responsible for at least some of the new resistors and small capacitors. It's been re-jumpered for an 8 ohm load too (it would have left the factory set for 15 ohms).

He may already have one perhaps ? Otherwise he might actually be unfamiliar with what he's buying and he's just assumed that an amp is a one-box thing (a surprising number of people do). I'm guessing, of course.

the reason he did not get this one is because it was still in the loft hidden under bags of cloths .
the man who bought the rest came from London way (we are in GLOS)
To be fair the lady was very happy with the £200 she was paid.
