I've wired using a variety of cables to stick to the orginal colours as much as possibel although I was overly fussed about originality. I did look at using the heavier duty cable for all of the connections but this quickly became a non starter as a) it was too big in diameter to fit the tag connectors and b) it became far to cumbersome to solder to the ends of the connectors of the rotary switches. I've used 24 0.2 cables on all but the heaters (H+ and H-) and cathode where I have used heavy duty tow connector cable (otherwise they would touch).

Yes, not sure of the O.D. as regards fitting into the plug.
EDIT: Whoops...the above was the reply to Alan's post. Lawrence.

'tis up to you, some might be close tolerance types, if any close tolerance types check out ok I would be inclined to leave them as is.
Lawrence.

Evening Lawrence,
The Cable I quoted claims to have an OD of 6.2mm and each Core is 7/0.2 - 7/0076 no doubt in Old Money. That's comparable with the original I would think. This looks superficially more attractive but the Cores are only 7/0.1 which I suspect is a bit thin for easy handling - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/PRO-POWER-8500...upplies_ET&hash=item3f26601aed Alan
