To explain; About a month ago I was asked if I could repair one of the above car radios in which the controls had no effect. Suspecting a faulty FPC (ribbon) between the motorised front panel and the main PCB, I ordered a replacement. For various reasons I didn't get around to the job until yesterday, the radio being left in a dismantled state meanwhile. I fitted, with some difficulty, the new FPC only to find no operation at all, on top of which when I powered the motor seperately to open the front, I found that the front panel/display unit to be upside down. THis must be due to the fact that I have fitted the FPC incorrectly (I know I should have taken photos, but didn't expect the radio to be left a month or more in a dismantled state!)
I've ordered a manual from an on-line supplier, but, in the meantime, does anyone know how to reassemble these things correctly?
(7.30PM) Since writing the above I;ve worked out how the FPC connects between the display and main PCB, though I still have to fit the brackets with the rollers through which the FPC passes. However I still have no sound and no display or controls operational, and am still awaiting delivery/download of the service manual. I have replaced these FPCs in the past, but not for a long time so I'm obviously getting something wrong!
