VIDOR My Queen Margaret

Spotted a Vidor My Queen Maegaret portable in the Market. The case was quite good but the metal front panel has some probs. The panel is a sort of violet/pink colour and the colour/paint has come off near the edge for about 5sqcm.
What is this Paint?? and more to the point what are they worth ? I would like to sort it whatever but wifey will insist I flog it afterwards.

Are you sure it's 'My Queen Margaret' - not 'My Lady Margaret?'

The only set I can recall with ''Queen' in the title was 'Sky Queen'.

I'm familiar with the appearance of the paint finish but have'nt a clue what it was - obviously something produced for the pupose and ceetainy no longer available. As to value, battery portables from the 50s aren't highly sought after, certainly in the UK due to the difficulty with batteries, though admittedly those who do collect them often make up their own from a string of PP3s for the HT.

These sets and similar ones can often be picked up for £5.00 - £10GBP at most from car boot sales and vintage radio fairs. Ironically - as with many such commonplace sets, probably worth more if stripped down - valves, speaker, OPT etc. Battery sets were often made by battery companies such as Vidor and Ever Ready as a means to market their batteries.

If the set has dud batteries in it, daft as it may sound, such batteries often sell on e-bay for £10 or more - bought by those who wish to make replica batteries, so a dud HT & LT battery would together probably fetch more than the set itself!

I would agree with David as regards price, and as David says it's most likely My Lady Margaret.

I stand corrected, I remembered them as Queen rather than Lady, getting too old.
The picture is a bit different, the front panel was a sheet of metal with holes for the speaker, no grill over the top. The knobs were smaller too if I remember correctly.
As for spares, I need a DL96 so it could be worthwile just for that. If it hasn't been sold on Sunday I'll see what the guy wants for it.

hi guys , my friend has a my lady catherine and having trouble finding a schematic for same ,i got him a schematic and sent it on the net, but it wont open for him to any decent size, i wonder would the schematic for the lady margaret be the same or similar or would anyone have a plan he could work off , best regards maitiu standun. ,
