You did better than me, I didn't find the pictures.
Just one of those bits of tackle that get junked once their usefulness has passed I suspect  No response from the Museums as yet. Alan

Received from the (real) Pye Museum:-
'Hello Alan, Your Pye BT1 unit is a state-of-charge indicator for Pye PMR Pocketfone PF70 series 15 Volt Ni-Cd batteries used in the commercial PF2, PF3 and PF5 series hand portables in the 1970s. They were also used by the British Army in Northern Ireland etc during the 1970s. It does a 5 second load test when the button is pressed. Phew, that's a relief Alan.
I was pretty certain that's what it was for but I couldn't find enough evidence to support my assertion. It's nice to know that I haven't gone completely potty (yet  )Hugh

The MOD record has nothing to do with the MoD, It's just the modification status, nothing cancelled means Mod state 0. Docs would be issued showing the latest status details along with drawings etc showing the changes.

Indeed. It's always good to get to the bottom of what something fairly obscure actually is and does.
I expect there were lots of them about once, but when the Radios were no longer used they were dumped Alan
