Bush VHF90 Tagstrip

Hi All,
I'm currently working on this VHF90 (I'm working on 2 in parallel using a 3rd as a reference) and the 7 way tag board is shot to pieces (look top left).
Can anyone suggest where I can get a replacement as I do not like the way that this has been wired.

Hi Rob,
If I looked at the correct item, what you call 'tag board' I call 'tag strip'. Try RS or Farnell: I know I bought some tag strip from them a couple of years ago. I hope that they still do supply it, cause I'm running low now and could do with some more myself! Please let me know if, and when, you have been successful in your search.

Like Al, I'd call that a tag-strip.

There are plenty on e-Bay, see http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/Vintage-/17574...ml?_sop=15&_nkw=tag+strip and even Maplin's have them.

There does seem to be uncertainty as to what they are called though.

The first item that appears - two parallel rows of tags mounted on a strip of paxolin (or possibly SRBF) - is what is commonly known as a 'group board'. Further down appears a similar item called a 'fibre glass turret terminal strip': O.K., if that's what the vendor want to call it - fine. But to me it's still a 'group board'. I've always understood that a 'tag strip' is a length of any insulating material that has one row of solder tags mounted on it. That strip may have mounting lugs / solder tags that double up as a chassis connection / earthing points at various places.

Ah! That's the stuff: classic tag strip. That's exactly what I was referring to in my earlier post; thanks rob. Y'know, when I look back over the last 50 years as to the enormous changes in technology in radio & electronics, especially in simple (and not so simple) components, it gives me a warm feeling to see that good old traditional tag strip hasn't changed - and is still available. I well recall using such tag strip when I built one of my very first radio projects when I was 13: a design for a 2-valve TRF from a design in Practical Wireless; halcyon days, indeed.

Hi All,
thanks for your help and to Rob T, thanks for your kind offer. I bid on some tag strips (to use the correct name) on ebay that I won for the princley sum of £0.99 plus p&p.

I must admit that I am finding this set much more challenging than I first thought as the wiring is breaking up as I'm touching it.

Funny thing is that I've got a Black VHF90 here which had the same problems, but the wavechange switch problem was not there. The tagstrip was OK but many parts weren't and the O/P Transformer was missing.
