Siemens Radio for Restoration

Hi Guys,

Here's my recent eBay acquisition just dropped off by DHL. It's in pretty poor shape - just the sort of challenge I like

What attracted me to it was the mention of it being stereo.

My first problem is there is no mention of a model number anywhere so if any of the team can suggest a model number that would be very helpful. I'll start trawling the usual sources.

When done this will look great in my bedroom!

It doesn't seem to have many valves in it for Stereo.
Are there any foreigners lurking under the chassis?

Agreed, Alan. It also seems a bit deficient in the speaker department.

What are the valves in it? Might help us find something similar.

That looks Mono to me too, but I notice that it has more than one speaker output.

It's funny, I spent ages looking through all the Siemens models on radiomuseum to no avail. When I did a Google search on 'Siemens Stereo Radio' one of the first results was the one above - so much for the search feature on radiomuseum.

I'll get cracking on finding out what exactly they meant by 'stereo' once I get hold of some documentation.

Two ECL82s sounds promising. Perhaps it's like the VHF3D, or you need an external Speaker for the other Channel.
It will be interesting to know.

Two ECL82s. I bet it can be used as a stereo amplifier with external speakers.

ECL82's for the output. How many output transformers does it have.

Looks like two small drive units (look like tweeters) on each side and the main drive unit in front. The circuit diagram shows two channels, etc.

The major downer so far is the seller did not pack it properly so the glass dial is broken in two places. Fortunately the breaks are at each end so outside the important areas of the dial. I should be able to glue the pieces back. Still, what a shame - all for the want of some bubble wrap!

I will rate the eBay seller accordingly!

Well I found all the bits for the glass dial - more damaged than I originally suspected. Not sure I can make this look decent. It might be more effective to cut the dial nice and straight and each end and glue a rectangular piece of black glass to each end. At least then it would look tidier and more symmetrical.

What's the best glue out there for gluing glass?
