I'm pretty clueless about stylii. I stand to be corrected, but as I understand it, you shouldn't play stereo records on a monaural stylus as it can damage the record. I don't know if the same applies in reverse - ie, whether a stereo stylus will damage mono records. (but a steero stylus won't play in stereo of course unless the rest of the gear is wired for stereo). I guess it depends on what records you intend to play on it - I can't recall when records became stereo.
I guess you'd need to consult an outfit that sells stylii - it must be a question often asked.
