Yes joe, I like minimalist receivers, I have always meant to knock up Direct Conversion receiver using 6BN8 double diode triode, say using the triode for AF amp ('phones) the two diodes could be used as a balanced mixer as they have indipendant cathodes and say a triode pentode for the injection Osc and RF amp, should be able to null out strong AM etc when resolving CW/SSB etc. Has any one used the 6BN8 in a home brew?

Prompted by original post by Joe I found this one valve job, runs off 6 volts apparently, and no tickler coil.

Must say Lawrence, this seems a nice little project, I would love to see this running with D-ream software to see what it's DRM capabilities are.

yes, I think I might be experimenting next winter once all this house diy is nearly done with.

I quite like this one, it having an xtal converter prior to regen so that tuning has a fixed spread no matter what band has been selected:
