I'm hoping that it's just a matter of finding the duff bits and swapping them for good ones. I agree that a Superhet would be much more straightforward, but less of a challenge. Also, I suspect if it was Summer I'd want to get on with other things. As it is, provided I don't deperately need the bench for something else, I might as well plod on.
As predicted I've been doing all sorts of domestic activities today. However, tomorrow's another day.

What a mammoth undertaking the set project has proved to be - far and away the most viewed and responded to thread on the forum, with 173 posts and 2,745 viewings. It certainly goes to show that 1930s TRF sets aren't quite as simply and primitive as we might often imagine. A major facet of the restoration of the MM has in fact been mechanical rather than electrical, not forgetting Joe's efforts with the cabinet!

As you say there are three parts to it, Cabinet, Mechanical and Electrical, so I suppose it's only 60 Posts each.
I suspect that the major complication is Pye's efforts to make a TRF that just had a Volume knob as opposed to a separate Reaction Control. Without that, and with the usual two Tuning Capacitors, I guess it would be quite straightforward.
Golborne in March would be a good target, I'll see what I can do. Mind you I'm just having a bit of a diversion with your ESR Meter - more later, elsewhere.

Hi Joe, to think if they had used another type of glue, this would not have happened, i have used Rentokil in a spout can to kill the little blighters off, with great results, no more woodworm, i did my cabinet outside soaked inside and out, as it soon dries, also the little spout enables you to treat each hole if you wisk.......regards.....Alan.

The 'needle' is a bit of capillary tube off an old boiler thermostat.

It will soon be the flight season so we'll see how well it worked.
